Since I get up late, rushing in to work, Mike’s been doing the daily watering. There’s not much to see at this point. Our tomatoes are done. The chives still have two or three strands each. We’ve been using the basil sparingly (the purple variety’s leaves do look really cool). The small lettuces are bolting. The peppers each have a fruit, but they aren’t growing much. One stem of the passion flower has survived, though we are getting no more flowers. We periodically spray the fig, which should be repotted but I’m hesitant to do so, since that seems to kill most things. Even two of the indoor plants are dead or near dead, and not for any obvious mistreatment on our part. Unless this gets significantly easier in the winter, I’m going to have to find myself a new hobby.
I know its discouraging, but there is got to be a way to make it work!

I am thinking about it for the winter. And if you get too many, you can throw them at chinchillas.
So, was at my friend Lawra’s house today and saw one of those topsyturvey’s in action. Not good. You could always try hydroponics!!! That would be cool. Well, up until they busted you for growing pot. Not that you would, but, really, you tell the cops all this was for fresh tomatoes and expect them to believe you.
Oh, which reminds me. Once mom was interviewing a guy in the local jail to see if he qualified for free legal representation. She asked him if he had any income. He said no, the cops just busted his pot growing operation. Mom said that she had to report that statement to the DA. The guy then said it was okay, he was pleading not guilty anyways.
